About Nation and Tribe Roles
The nation and tribe share a simple structure that usually includes a Chief (or co-chiefs), Medicine Man, Wampum Bearer, and Sachem. The nation has a few more roles like Sand Painter and Greeter. Here is the complete list:
Medicine Man - Assistant Chief
Wampum Bearer - finance (and sometimes merchandising)
Sachem - Last Year's Chief
Old Wise Man - Last Year's Sachem
Smoke Signaler - Website and other Communication
Historian - Slide Show
War Whooper - Leads Chants
Sand Painter - Orders Patches for Events
Nation Greeter - Contact for Recruiting Prospects
Talk to your chief if you're interested in being a leader next year.
